The thesis examines the influence of this filler on the mechanical and thermal properties of a polyamide 66 and, through extensive tribological and surface analytical methods, illuminates the fundamental modes of action. The systematic use of chemical transformation processes by incorporating reactive fillers like magnesium hydroxide promises a solution. The contact temperatures have a negative impact on the system’s performance, particularly during variable loading profiles or when using engineering thermoplastics. The trend is marked by research and development regarding the effectiveness of different material compositions in reducing friction and wear, in which friction induced heat is one of the main challenges. Driven by necessary energy and cost savings, plastics are increasingly applied as primary components in tribological systems.
